Update: 7/3 Extubation

AlhumduAllah, Yusef was extubated this morning and he breathing fine. He has his eyes wide open and is trying to speak. Hes words are very quiet and hard to understand BUT he told me he loved me and blew me a kiss. Please continue to make A LOT of duah for him. InshAllah in 6 months to a year the doctors are expecting a FULL recovery. Allah Ye7my Wa Yeshee InshAllah YA RUB.

Dear Brs/Srs:
assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

This is Najia Kurdi (Yusef’s older sister).

May Allah reward each and everyone of you who helped with donations
and/or prayers for Yusef Kurdi during this very difficult time for me
and my family. Alhumdullillah, through your generous efforts we were
able to transport my brother, Yusef, to the U.S. at a very critical
point in his medical care.

Here is a brief status of the medical situation of my brother, Yusef:

He is now receiving care at a trauma center in a hospital in South
Florida and they are very hopeful for his recovery. He was just taken
off the ventilator and he immediately mumbled “alhumdulillah”.
Although, they are hoping for a full recovery they are expecting this
to take six months to a year.

Here is a status of the financial situation (alhamdulillah):

Aruba hospital costs:                                 -$15,000
‘Life Flight’ to transport him to U.S.: -$20,000

Alhamdulillah, the immediate critical need for money (Aruba hospital +
air lift) has been met. However, we are anticipating big hospital
bills for his treatment (as he does not have insurance) for which we

Update: 7/2 11pm after MRI

Yusef is still on his way to recovery, but still intubated. The doctors are hopeful he will make a full recovery within 6-12 months, thanks in part to the efforts of our extended community thus far.

The outpouring of support has been overwhelming and we ask that you continue your support through prayers, donations and spreading the word. The expected hospital bill is going to be enormous, and although the urgency is no longer there, the need to help cover his expenses still is. Just an update on Yusef. Today after he got an MRI he was not as heavily sedated and had his eyes open for the first time. I asked him if he could see me, and he nodded yes. He seemed to be is pain and very agitated so my mom asked him if the neck brace was bothering him he shook his head no then we asked if it the tubes? he nodded yes. AlhumduAllah this is a good sign he is responding. He also had an exam on his esophagus and the doctor cleared him for extubation tomorrow inshAllah. The last step is to see if he is a able to talk. InshAllah khair Please everyone keep making duah for him. Allah ye7my wa yeshfee inshAllah.

Just a little update:
I saw Yusef today for the first time and he still looks as beautiful as ever MashAllah.
The doctors say that in time 6 months to a year he should be able to make a full recovery. For now they are trying to extubate him and take him out of the medical coma. InshAllah khair please keep making duah for him. Allah Yem7my wa yeshfe InshAllah Ya Rub.

As Salam Walakum everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that Yusef has made it to the Hospital in the states. They are doing everything they can to treat him. I also wanted to thank everyone for being so caring and helpful, it means so much to us all. The hospital isn’t allowing visits due to how critical his condition is. InshAllah once visitors are allowed I will make a facebook update, to let you all know. JazakAllahukhairan please continue making duah. May Allah bless you all.

Yusef has landed in florida

As of 2 hours ago, Yousef has landed in Florida. Will keep everyone updated as more information is known.

Yesterday you have raised $9,300. Today I am proud to say you have raised $32,060. There are are donations coming in as I’m typing. Mashallah that is a total of $41,360.

May God reward you all for your prayers and support and I urge you to continue. This is truely amazing! Total Amount raised: $33,400

$16,300 has been paid to Aruba expenses. The rest is going towards transportation costs. Any amount in excess of the transportation costs will go directly to treating Yusef in the US. There is a goal that must be met by Friday July, 6. A goal that could be met if we continue at this rate; collectively, through paypal, your community, or directly to the family.

Salam everyone, I am Yusef’s sister. I just wanted to update everyone and thank all of you for being so caring and helpful. InshAllah Yusef is getting airlifted to Florida as we speak. I myself just flew in from Michigan. And InshAllah will be able to see him, and give you an actuate update.

This morning the hospital took Yusef off the sedatives to assess his condition. Once off the sedative he sat up and was in a lot of pain. My brother was able to calm him down and told him to lay down, Yusef listen and laid down. InshAllah that means that the brain damage was very minimal. He still need a lot work done, so please keep him in your duah (prayers). Again, Thank you all SO much for everything you are doing may Allah (God) bless you guys with the highest place in paradise.

Update: 6/30 145pm

**Fundraising Update: We have raised $15,000 over night (ASIDE from the $9,300 raised yesterday and handed over to the Aruba hospital), and counting. This is all due to the efforts of many family, friends, and friends of friends who spread the message all over the world. The goal was to help Yusef Kurdi and his family. What we accomplished was far greater.

Everyone has come together, many I don’t even know, to help a cause, and for that you all can be proud of your efforts and donations. In regards to Yusef’s health, I hear he is stable once again and I have real hope he can make a significant recovery. I have not been notified of too many details of the situation only because the time has played a major factor thus far, and communication has been very difficult out here on the island. For that I apologize, and we appreciate the continued support despite the lack of answers.

I can assure you all the money is very much-needed at the time and the prayers are needed even more so. More accurate details of Yusef’s condition will be known to us in the coming days, god willing. Until then, I asked for you all to keep Yusef and his family in your prayers and to continue the support. Thank you, god bless and jazakallahu khair.

Update: 6/30 12pm

Our goal was to cover the medical expenses accrued in Aruba, Because without paying the hospital in Aruba, they will not allow him to be released to the states. To my understanding that’s around 20000. We paid 9000, last night and we’ve raised over 11,000 over night.

Our next goal now is to continue paying the bill in that hospital to stabilize Yusef and then to pay for an airlift to transport him to the US. The airlift is estimated around $20,000.

Update: 6/30 1am

This is a brief much-needed update. The amount we’ve raised, around $9500, is great, God Bless everyone that has donated and prayed for Yusef. The entire amount has just been paid in the middle of the night because the hospital demanded it. The fact of the matter is we need more. I say need with the utmost urgency! The fact that Im posting this now in the middle of the night is because the situation is even more critical. To be honest, we need 1000s. We need to have another day like yesterday. I know it’s a far reach but the hospital in Aruba needs the rest of the money today, Saturday June 30. I will post a specific number once we get close enough.
